Anitabot in Little Big Planet (aka my ultimate reality)

A few weeks ago Baron bought a PS3, complete with flagship game Little Big Planet. This game isn’t new so I’m going to save the review, other than saying it’s quite possible this game was made for ME.

It is the purest manifestation of fun, and is the reality I have choosen to inhabit latley.

Baron and I technically finished the game (I kept dying on the later levels), and have gone back to re-play levels go collect all the goodies. We don’t have it all, but we’re working on it.

For now, I’d like to present to you: MY SACKGIRL!

She is the best.

This picture brings me so much happiness.

Here is a nice couples photo of Baron and myself as sack-people. It’s fairly accurate.

“The Crappiest generation of idiots”…

My brother sent me the following clip:

I didn’t know who Louis CK was before seeing this clip – but I totally agree with what he’s saying. I feel this a lot, though it usually takes someone far more eloquent/witty/famous to really capture my thoughts for me.

I do hate when people blame things on technology though… it’s not technology’s fault, it’s as he said, this crappy generation of idiots. haha I just like saying that. What it IS – is the people who are using, or rather MISusing the technology.   They just can’t deal with awesomeness, they get complacent far too quickly. I guess we’re all abit guilty of that – but it doesn’t take much time to stand back and suss out the positive/neat/cool/good aspects of the technology your’e using. Maybe i’m just some infernal optimist… who knows?

Incidentally – I love flying. I’ve only been about 5 vacations in my life where i was able to fly – and every time I am absolutley amazed by what I see. Sure I didn’t enjoy getting an ear infection and tonsilitis and then partking in an 18 hour flight over the pacific – not the BEST experience I’ve had (could actually be some of the worst pain I’ve experienced)… But I’ve had more than enough enough awesome experiences in planes to make up for that. I got to go in the cockpit of a boeing 747 when I was 8 – I don’t think they do that anymore since all the kids these days are probably terrorists or something. I’ve marveled at the French Alps, seen the sun “set” into a lack of horizon, flown at night and seen nothing but stars – and it made me wonder what astronauts feel like. What I felt, was crazy intense lonliness, and it was probably only a tiny fraction of how amazed they are.  Most recently I had the pleasure of flying into Kelowna, British Columbia. That was remarkably beautiful:

I often wish I was a rock star, or of some other occupation that would allow me to travel all over the world, with ease.  I’m sure rock stars are sick of airplanes and hotels etc… but it’s still cooler than sitting in an office (even if it is an awesome Herman Miller office).

In conclusion… technology = awesome, this generation of idiots = crappiest.

P.S. Oh, apparently my friend Stephanie’s 10 year old cousin saw a photograph of her & I, and recognized my face because “she looks like the sticker”. The sticker being the ones I got made up of my anitabot logo face:

How awesome is that? It’s pretty redonkulawesome.

Happy Birthday To Me!

I’ve been negligent with writing but I blame this on my recently passed birthday. Speaking of birthdays, I wanted to show you somthing I found humourous and delightful!

You know when it’s your birthdy and you log into your email and/or facebook you get little happy birthday messages? Espcially from forums where you have to enter your date when you register. They are kind of cute!

Hello Minifig,

We at GameBattles would like to wish you a happy birthday today!

I’m pretty sure this is actually an option built into most forum software (send user birthday greeting? yes).

I think I got the BEST one from the least-expected sources: OSAP.  OSAP is the Ontario student loans organization that I [unfortunately] owe money to.  I logged in just to check my [nearly non-existent!] balance and noticed that I had “1 message(s) waiting” in my message centre. The message centre usually only tells me important facts such as: “The day your payment is due to come out falls on a Saturday, so funds will be taken out the following business day.”  On this particular day, however it had this message, click on the image to see in a larger, readable size:

Thank's OSAP! Now, how about loan forgiveness?

Thank

This is awesome for a few reasons:

  1. You don’t really exepct any sort of niceties from this type of service. It’s just something you do, like banking, and… well it is banking.
  2. There isn’t even an exclamation mark. It’s so matter of fact. It’s like they don’t know how to be joyous but they tried.
  3. The text above the message reads: “Please read the 1 message(s) below and take the appropriate actions, if required”. – What are the appropriate actions for happy birthday? Having a good time with friends that involves cake? If so then I did take the appropriate actions ;)

It made my day though!

Another thing that made my day earlier this week was this awesome post on Buddyhead, a music blog:

Toronto’s first snow of 2008

Yesterday Toronto had its first snow. It was a bit early and defintiely surprising. For the most part it was the really wet flurries kind that doesn’t stay on the ground (much to many people’s relief)… But I was still kind of excited.

Snow

Snow

Unlike the majority of people I know, I LOVE SNOW. And by extension, I enjoy winter. There are a few crappy things about winter, like how it’s really dark out early and in the extreme cold it sucks if you have to leave. Then there is driving in the snow which is not good. but… for the most part I love it. IF it’s a cold barren snow-free winter I’m far less happy. The WORST part of winter is people complaining about how awful it is. Crying like babies and threatening to move somewhere warm. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that… I could never live somewhere that was hot 100% of the time. I’d go crazy. I love that our seasons change, and they change drastically.

Perhaps it’s because I own a super warm parka, tall thinsulated weatherproof boots and have enough body fat to keep me somewhat warm. Or, maybe it’s the fact that I’m eternally a kid and snow just fills my heart with glee.

Snow this early also reminds me of my chidhood, those years when it snowed on Halloween when we went trick-or-treating and also had to wear snow-pants! le sigh!

For fun, here’s a video of the first snow from last year.
