Monty Python weren’t lying when they said “death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth”.
I’m useless in the mornings. I’m always rushing, forgetting things. Yesterday I forgot to shut the bedroom door. Chompy lives free-range in the bedroom. Normally this would be fine, as she rarely wants to leave the bedroom, but it wasn’t because yesterday Huey aka Houdini-Bunny escaped his pen AGAIN, and found his way into the bedroom. It really doesn’t sound like a big deal that they would hang out, but as they are not bonded, it is. Why?
RABBITS ARE FREAKIN’ VICIOUS. Rabbits have sharp teeth. They use them… on each other… Baron came home to find clumps of fur EVERYWHERE, along with a bit of dried blood on a cardboard box. I was able to inspect Huey, and found no less than 4 bite marks, one on his back being quite bad. I haven’t been able to touch Chompy to see if she has any – but I would expect at least some. The bunnies are sepparated, Huey’s wounds cleaned and cage double reinforced, Chompy’s room door tightly shut.
This is going to set back their “bonding” process for a while… which means we’re going to have to keep them sepparated for even longer. We also are going to have to watch these cuts closely to make sure they dont’ get infected, they could require stitches or some other reason to visit the vet
I shouldn’t be surprised – just because rabbits are cute, and totally innocent looking – I should remember the lessons of Monty Python… Rabbits are completley vicious, capable of tearing skin with razor sharp teeth.
This isn’t the type of mid-week updated I wanted to make… and surely most of you don’t care… but I feel so bad that my little bit of carelessness resulted in some major harm to my babies!
Hopefully I’ll have better news for the next post!
