Will it blend? When will it end?

This is getting out of hand.

There is a trend of people blending new electronic devices. New iPhones and apple products seem to get the brunt of the blades, or perhaps they get the most press. I understand exactly why Apple products divide people like they do – I’m a tech geek who spends a lot of her time reading tech blogs and trying to play with other people’s cell phones.

I just saw this video on a mobile-phone blog:

What I do not understand is, why people feel the need to destroy these products. I’m not saying this because I’m in love with Apple and think these things are sacred – they are not. But it is something that took a lot of time, money, effort and materials to create. It is the most wasteful thing anyone can do.  With all the recent press about suicides happening in factories that make such product, suicides that are a result of the horrible working conditions, you’d think people might care a stitch more about what goes into making their precious toys.

Isn’t the answer always yes? Perhaps there are different degrees of which a product can blend, but has anyone successfully made an unblendable gadget? These gadgets can always be destroyed. There will never be one that can’t, so… what’s the point?!

I don’t think there is a point, I think people are just destructive and want to break things just for the “fun” of it. Just take Jackass for example — how is that show still being produced?! I doubt if these people consider where their gadgets come from at all; the consumerist mind is very narrow. I completely agree with you, though, so totally wasteful.
